Our vast range includes leathers and new technology fabrics like Aquaclean and FibreGuard – ideal for family homes where spills are common. We can also colour match our bespoke footstools to your New England sofa or cushions for a cohesive look.
Whichever fabric you choose, you can rest assured that your footstool’s upholstery will stand the test of time, as we only use materials with a Martindale rub test score of 40,000 or more. In layman’s terms, this deems the fabric durable enough for heavy or even commercial use.
In addition, you can opt for either hardwood legs in a stain that matches your other furniture, classic castors or chic metal gliders for easy manoeuvrability. Piped trims, buttons and metal studs in chrome, bronze or gold can also be added to your custom footstool as desired.

Handmade in the UK by expert craftsmen
Built from robust timber frames, our bespoke footstools are handmade in Sussex by our talented team of in-house craftsmen. Each individual part is meticulously quality-checked before being pieced together using proven woodworking techniques. Once in position, the frame is then secured with sturdy joints, dowels and screws for long-lasting strength.
We also use premium steel springs and supportive foam to ensure your footstool holds its shape over time, whether used for resting your legs or as extra seating. There is also the option to add a layer of down or feather filling for a softer, more sumptuous finish.

More about our bespoke footstools
New technology fabrics are made from quality synthetic materials that are specially woven and treated during production to prevent dirt and stains penetrating the fibres. Our hardwearing FibreGuard fabrics are rated highly for colour fastness, washability and fire retardance, and Pro variants are also anti-microbial to prevent bacteria spreading. Meanwhile, Aquaclean fabrics are coated to repel liquids so they don’t soak in and leave stains. This also makes cleaning easier, as well as protecting against germs and allergens.
The average lead time for the manufacturing of bespoke footstools is 12-14 weeks, though this can be slightly longer depending on the size and complexity of your chosen design. When your footstool is ready, we will notify you to arrange delivery at a time that suits you. We’ll even install your item in your chosen room and take away the packaging. Or, if you prefer, you can collect your footstool direct from the showroom.
At New England, we pride ourselves on the solid construction of all our footstools, sofas and armchairs. As such, we offer a lifetime guarantee each custom footstool frame and a 10 year guarantee on any springs and coils used in the seat pad. Our footstools also come with a fabric guarantee, with the length varying depending on your chosen material.
