New Showroom

Introducing our Newly Expanded Showroom

Having operated out of our 60-62 East Street showroom in Horsham for the past 14 years, we are thrilled to announce our brand new expansion! But don’t worry, we haven’t gone anywhere. Instead, we’ve taken over the adjoining premises to create one large showroom to display our growing collection of luxury furniture and accessories. Read all about what we’ve been up to over the past few months and why, plus our official opening date below.

The decision to expand

The initial idea to expand our premises came in 2019, when the adjoining Bathstore.com showroom ceased trading, but our plans were put on hold due to the Covid 19 pandemic.

In 2021, Joby Hardman, the son of the owners of New England Home Interiors, joined the business. With his input, plus the addition of several new product ranges by top suppliers, we have doubled in size over the past 18 months, reiterating the need for more floor space.

The new showroom at New England Home Interiors

Having lived and worked in Horsham for over 30 years, each member of our family-run business was keen to continue trading in the town. Luckily, the former Bathstore.com store next door was still vacant, presenting the perfect opportunity to grow our current showroom without leaving Horsham. Joby Hardman explains:

“Rarely do you get the opportunity to expand without relocating, which always carries risk. Being able to expand into the building next door has allowed us to future proof our business requirements, given us peace of mind about the businesses that surround us, and allowed us to create a destination for luxury and bespoke furniture unlike anything in the area.”

Interestingly, Joby actually began his managerial career at the Bathstore.com showroom in Horsham over 20 years ago, so our new premises holds some sentimental value too!

The refurbishment

Having secured the lease to the 58 East Street showroom earlier in the year, we’ve been working hard on refurbishments with the help of our landlords and over 20 local tradesmen for the past 7 months.

During that time, the building has undergone extensive works after deteriorating somewhat while standing empty for several years. With significant investment from both New England’s owners and our landlords, we’ve made vast internal and external upgrades in a bid to return the building to its former glory and accentuate its period features dating back to the 1600s. For instance, its timeless inglenook fireplace and soaring ceilings indicative of a bygone era.

We have also knocked through the adjoining wall on the ground and first floors so customers and staff can move freely between the two showroom spaces, and restored the two large bay windows at the front of the store that let light flood in. New England’s signature teal-coloured signage has also been added to the outside to create a unified look across both shopfronts, with the hand painted address above the entrance restored by a local signwriter.

In addition, we have laid 395 square meters of flooring and given the place a much-needed facelift using over 150L of premium paint by Mylands and Little Greene, for which we are approved suppliers. This, along with new lighting, special touches and the property’s own vintage charm, has helped us to create an inviting space with eye-catching displays to showcase our products – a stark contrast to the clinical feel of many modern retail stores.

The finished result

Now combined, our finished Horsham showroom boasts over 6000 square feet of floor space that will enable us to display the many new furniture lines we’ve added to our collection in the last two years. That’s more than 4000 square feet than we had before!

Our newest addition is a premium Italian sofa range featuring stunning upholstery and plush cushions. Going forward, we’ll also be stocking a wider variety of sofas by our existing UK and European suppliers, including models with new technology fabrics from FibreGuard and Aquaclean.

In addition, customers can now view an expanded collection of side tables, coffee tables and sideboards in-store. We’ve also incorporated an area dedicated entirely to our stylish Dekton dining tables with a new range of surface designs, alongside complementary chairs.
